THE OUTFITTER

Description

The Outfitter is a seven day/six night trip to our Grand Goave site. It may be more suitable for the rugged guests who want to get the satisfaction of doing something most people would never dream of doing. Although just as safe as any other trip, it definitely isn’t as comfortable. Accommodations are sparse as you will be sleeping in some form of tent or temporary structure. Currently this site is mostly temporary wooden structures surrounded by a chain link fence.

You will have access to men’s and women’s shower houses and restrooms. You will eat under a shelter that holds the kitchen and dining area. Come prepared to make a noticeable difference as you help build more permanent structures and bond with our kids. This site is home to 31 children and has a more rural setting. You will see and hear our neighbors through the banana trees going about their daily lives.

The cost of this trip is $575 which includes food, lodging, field services, local transportation, and administration cost.

Groups will be responsible for getting themselves to the Toussaint Louverture International Airport where they will be met by HAF staff.  From there you will take a two hour drive through the heart of Port au Prince and out into the country side to your final destination in Grand Goave. This drive will have a lasting impression as you see living conditions you didn’t think existed and probably couldn’t have imagined. HAF staff will give your group leader best times and dates for arrival.  The group leader will be in charge of booking your flights.  You should plan on raising an extra $700 -$1000 to cover the cost of flights, depending on where you live in the US. The purchase of emergency evacuation insurance and travel insurance is up to each individual group member. Trips start on a Saturday and end on Friday.

Trip Cost is $575
