THE CLASSIC
Description
“The Classic” trip is seven days and six nights at our original and most developed site in the coastal town of Jacmel. You will make your way to Jacmel via the Toussaint Louverture International Airport in Haiti’s capital city of Port au Prince. From there you will either drive or fly to our site. Your travel inside Haiti will reveal some of the extreme contrasts of Haiti. You’ll see or experience the congested streets of the city and then the beautiful mountains and countryside.
Upon arrival at this working Children’s Village you will be enthusiastically greeted by several of the 70 kids living there along with the other staff members. The children range from newborns to young teens. Here at our Village you can build lasting and rewarding relationships with our children and our staff. You can participate in a wide array of activities and needed projects including: construction, development, maintenance, outreach, education, and spiritual mentoring.
You will have opportunities to interact with the local community and take several different excursions throughout the week. Each group will have the chance to visit a local Haitian church for Sunday morning services and a trip to our local beach.
This site has many modern conveniences, such as air conditioned dorms and filtered water, all in a private, walled compound. Visitors will bunk in the main house where we have separate men’s and women’s dorms with private bathrooms and showers. The Jacmel site can host up to 24 guests at a time.
The cost of “The Classic” trip includes food, lodging, field services, transportation within the community, and administration cost. Groups are financially responsible for round trip travel cost to Jacmel, travel insurance, and emergency evacuation insurance if desired. Hands and Feet staff will help coordinate with your group leader arrival and departure times as well as advice on other aspects on your travel to our site. You should plan on raising an extra $700 – $1000 to cover cost of flights, depending on your state-side address. Your group leader or other designated person will then coordinate the final booking of your travel arrangements.
Trips start on a Saturday and end on Friday.
Trip Cost is $700
